CONGRATULATIONS
TO THE ORLANDO CHAPTER
WINNERS OF THE 2009 INTER-CHAPTER CHALLENGE |
CCA Florida’s Sixth Annual Inter-chapter Challenge (ICC) was held on June 26th and 27th at River Palm Cottages and Fish Camp. A record 91 anglers representing local chapters from around the state traveled to Jensen Beach to take part in the tournament. The ICC is a fun event with a flare of intensity and competition that culminates with one chapter going home with bragging rights until next year’s tournament.
The Orlando Chapter won the Alex Jernigan Grand Championship and bragging rights with a 28.5” snook, 28.5” redfish and a 29.25” trout. For the second time, their chapter name will join the past Grand Champions (Manatee County 2004 & 2005, Orlando 2006, Naples 2007 & Martin County 2008) on the Alex Jernigan Grand Champion perpetual trophy. The Orlando Chapter was the clear cut winner as they were the only team to catch all three species. Chris Myers carried the team to victory with his 28.5” redfish and 29.25” trout. Jay Wright completed the slam with a 28.5” snook.

HABITAT RESTORATION |
The Orlando Chapter is proud to be involved with Oyster reef restoration in the Canaveral National Seashore. Designed and managed by UCF Professor Dr. Linda Walters, the project is making huge improvements in habitat restoration, water quality, and of course fish populations.
"This is a great way for members to get involved with a hands on, grass roots project and see results very quickly" Greg Harrison, the volunteer coordinator says.
We have had business team building happy hours, sushi making parties, & church youth group get togethers to make oyster mats for oyster reef restoration in the Mosquito lagoon.
If you are interested and have a group of 10 or more people over the age of 12, contact Greg Harrison. His email address is: gregharrison@remax.net
